Here's to the New Year!
With the birth of my first child only several weeks ago, I find myself reflecting on the New Year with a particular angle. How will I give to my baby in the best way I know how in 2012, the first full year of his life? How will I show up for work despite being tired and distracted? How will this year be a year of continued growth for my family and me? We tend to set “Resolutions” for ourselves in...

Looks I Love
No 6 boots and clogs have a well-deserved cult following in New York. Their boots are constructed beautifully, incredibly comfortable and look good with everything. The adorable store in Soho feeds my growing obsession and desire to collect these shoes. The boutique also carries ready to wear collections as well as vintage lines and accessories.

Morphoses at the Joyce Theater
So often, we want to come up with a good reason to get together with our friends. Who doesn’t love wine, cheese and good conversation? My friend and colleague Brian hit it right when the dance company Morphoses www.morphoses.org had its opening night at The Joyce Theater www.joyce.org. Not So Scary Spirituality
It’s been requested to once and for all, in one location, give a simple and direct description of the most popular yoga styles one might try. I get it. When you’re beginning a yoga practice all of these foreign sounding words placed in front of level 1, 2, 3 have no meaning. So how do you know if it’s the experience for your mind and body? As succinctly as possible I’m going to give you a little...

Warrior II
The yoga practice acknowledges how the poses work with us on both a physical and an energetic/emotional level. It’s a part of the body that can often feel constricted and surprisingly free as we begin to...

What Am I Reading?
This is one of those novels where in one week’s time several people said, “You have to read Cutting For Stone.” They were right and now I’m passing the message along. This is one of the better-written books I’ve encountered (and I’m picky). This is the story of twin brothers living in Ethiopia of Indian/English decent with the running themes of surgery, revolution, love, betrayal, and the search...

Stuff I Worship
My Mom always used Mountain Ocean Skin Trip, a milky coconut body lotion that went on easy and absorbed surprisingly quick. The smell has a hint of the tropics and is 100% natural. When I got pregnant, I knew skin care was important so I turned to Mountain Ocean’s “Mother’s Special Blend” a mix of almond oil, pecan oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter and vitamin E. The oil is meant for before, during...
