My Fave Neighborhood Spots
Spending more time upstate this summer, it seems only right to give some love to my favorite spots up north. At the top of my list is Waddle and Swaddle (W&S) in the charming town of Rhinebeck, NY. So much more than just a baby store- it’s a place you want to hang out. I never seem to leave empty handed but I don’t mind. W&S is like a favorite boutique or art gallery- handpicked products...
Growing Garden
This past week the strawberries were ripe and surprisingly sweet. The trick is to pick them before the little garden mice get them. I’m so glad my son got one of his first strawberry experiences with berries grown in our garden!
When I see the little yellow flowers on my tomato plants I get super excited. These yellow flowers will some day soon become the season’s delicious...

Home Practice With Baby Part 4
Table Top -You will only be able to do this with one hand on the ground, as you will have to make sure your baby is stable on your belly. But it still feels good on your back and legs and your baby will enjoy the feeling of being lifted in a new way!
Squat - Squats are great to open your hips, strengthen your feet and ankles and lengthen your spine. But most importantly, a great moment to lift...

The Roots of My Garden
As you can see from this photo my Dad loved to get his hands dirty. Mommy Networking
Walking around the city with my baby, I now pick up other Mommies. We eye each other with a kind of curiosity. I’m not shy so often I’ll initiate conversation and most moms seem relieved to chat. Typical questions: How old is your baby? Is this your first baby? Do you live in the neighborhood? Do you have any help? Did you have a C-section or a vaginal birth? What hospital did you deliver? These...

People Who Rock
Elissa Stein is a regular at Laughing Lotus Yoga Center, where I both teach and practice. I always do a quiet cheer when I see her because she is just so fun to talk to and is quite simply, a brilliant woman. Elissa is an author and a pop-culture enthusiast. Her latest book, FLOW: the Cultural Story of Menstruation was noted as “important and ground-breaking” by The New Yorker. Previous projects...

Home Practice With Baby Part 3
Ok Moms, let’s just face it: The abs aren’t what they used to be. But there’s plenty of ways to restrengthen them. Try these poses below and as always, include your baby in the fun!
See Saw Pose: Sitting on your shins, place baby in front of you and hold hands tightly. Begin to see-saw forward and back. Baby will enjoy the motion and you will energize your abdominals by...

My Fave Neighborhood Spots
Susanne Alvarado wanted to open a lingerie boutique that was unpretentious, welcoming, and cozy. Sugar Cookies has become the hangout for Chelsea women looking for beautiful under things and as it turns out, meaningful conversation. With two inviting couches and an adorable dog-named Kodi, Susanne has created her little dream. Carrying beautiful brands such as Chantelle, Simone Perele, Mimi...
